About our services

Rite I - The Rite I service retains much of the language and penitential worship practices found in the 1928 version of the Book of Common Prayer. At Grace Church, Rite I is used at our early service on Sundays at 8:00 a.m. It is usually a "said" service, that is, without music.

Rite II - The Rite II service uses the more modern language of the 1979 revision of the Book of Common Prayer. It is usually a "sung" service with hymns and a choral anthem. Often the Celebrant will chant a portion of the service. Rite II is generally used at the 10:00 a.m. service on Sundays at Grace.

Both services have two parts - The Service of the Word with scripture readings and a sermon, and The Service of the Table or Holy Communion.
